Being an affiliate is easy, but being a successful affiliate requires research, foresight and analysis. Here are five suggestions on how to maximize your earnings potential:

1. Know your visitors. Before you join any affiliate programs, you should make sure you know the demographics and psychographics of your site visitors so that you can choose the most effective affiliate creative. Know your audience's gender, age group, economic status and their interests; different sections of your site may have different demographics.
